Ongoing Efforts by Egypt Without Disease Foundation to Provide Health and Psychological Support to Refugees in Aswan

On Friday, July 25, 2025, Egypt Without Disease Foundation for Healthcare organized a health outreach event for refugee families residing in Aswan Governorate, as part of its continued efforts to provide a wide range of services to those arriving from the sister country of Sudan and other neighboring nations.

Dr. Mariam El-Alfy, Director of the Aswan Office at Egypt Without Disease Foundation, explained that the event aimed to raise health awareness among Sudanese, Eritrean, and Syrian refugee families. This was achieved through an introductory session covering endemic diseases such as tuberculosis and cholera, as well as chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes within the framework of offering psychological, social, and medical support to refugee families.

During the event, medical screenings were conducted to measure blood pressure, blood sugar levels, weight, and height. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with several charitable organizations, including:

Thawab Foundation, which mobilized refugee families for participation.

Save the Children, which will assist in referring patients in need of medical intervention to affiliated hospitals for the necessary care and medications.

Dr. Mariam El-Alfy also announced that Egypt Without Disease Foundation is preparing to launch comprehensive specialist clinics covering a wide range of medical fields. These clinics aim to serve families in Aswan particularly in remote and underserved areasلاas well as newly arrived refugee families.

She added that the Foundation is also actively providing a variety of medical services across Aswan Governorate, including:

Distribution of wheelchairs.

Referrals for critical surgeries such as retinal operations and joint replacements to advanced medical institutions in Aswan and Cairo.

Free medical convoys offering checkups, laboratory tests, and medication across various specialties.

Operation of a mobile medical unit to reach remote and underserved regions.

Additionally, the Foundation plans to organize medical convoys dedicated to refugee population clusters in areas such as Wadi Kharit, Aniba, and Karkar further reinforcing its mission to support the most vulnerable and ensure healthcare access for all.
